This is the Genesis church campus in Guntersville, AL. During the summer, there is a camp for special needs children called Thursday's Child. Through this program children, and adults, with special needs can come on certain days and give their normal every day care givers a rest for about 6 hours. I have volunteered at this program for five years and it is the most wonderful ministry I have ever worked at. This program was started by Delilah Vaughn who adopted a daughter with Cerebral Palsy named Trish. She didn't want her to sit around all summer doing nothing so she started having a gathering of Trish and her other special needs friends and now it has become a county wide summer camp. Trish passed away last spring at the age of 20, but this program is still going on. They provide the children's lunches twice a week, so donations are greatly accepted. To give a donation call 256-571-9000.

The pilot club of Guntersville, AL, sponsors a camp during the summer for mentally challenged children. This camp is held for one week in the summer. The kids get to come in the morning to the Recreational Center and swim for an hour. Then, they go inside and have a snack. Afterwards, they all do a few activities, have lunch, and go home. This club is about four hours long. I have loved working at this club for many summers.
