These are some things that we do daily in my reading class.

Daily reading homework:  Read each night for 20 min.

SPARE Time - Strategy Practice Accelerated Reader Exercise

**Strategy focus - having "inner conversations" while reading and keeping "thinking tracks"

 'Guided Reading - Reading in small groups with the teacher

Word Work - phonics lessons

Reading Responses- responding to what we are reading verbally and written

Fluency Goals78 words per. minute;***  92  wpm. in December ***110 wpm. in May

To be a fluent reader you must:

Read words instantly

Read words correctly

Read at correct speed

Put words together (phrasing - little words go with big words.  "to the house" not " to - the - house")

Use punctuation

Use expression
