April 26-May 7-Reading 7-Dandridge-Lesson Plans
These plans are tentative and may have to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Don’t forget that you have a five point fiction book in your level required for this nine weeks, but I will add a second fiction book grade if you choose to read another one worth at least five points and in your level and take the test on it. That will help to pull up your grade. The last day to take AR tests will be on Friday, May 21.
Monday, April 26-No School
Tuesday, April 27-Friday, May 7- We will be completing The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and have our comprehension test, vocabulary test, and AR test (does not count as the required fiction test), and we will be painting and decorating our picket fences. We will also be turning in the reading guides and the notes on the novel. Be sure that you have all of this completed by Friday, April 30. Other seventh grade teachers will be planning activities on this novel for some cross-curricular activities. After the completion of this novel, we will begin on The Outsiders. This is a novel for teenagers written by a teenager. We will be silently reading this in class which will probably take us until the end of the year. Students usually love this book! There will be a study guide for this novel also.
These plans are tentative and may have to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Progress reports will be given out Tuesday, April 20. Students need to have one fiction book on their reading level and worth at least 5 points read by Friday, April 16. I am encouraging students to read one other fiction book on their level and worth at least 5 points for an extra grade of 100. I will not add a zero for the second book if students choose not to do this one. I just want each child to continue reading throughout the nine weeks and continue logging in what he/she is reading. We are reading two novels in class this nine weeks.
Monday, April 12-Friday, April 23- Continue playing the CD of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer while students follow along in the book. Students are working on vocabulary sheets, a reading guide, study questions, and examples of literary terms that we have studied this year. This is a great review of these skills. Students are taking notes on each chapter as we discuss. They will have a vocabulary test, a comprehension test, and an AR test on this book at the end April. (This does not count as their AR fiction which is to read independently.). We will also turn in the packet and the notes that we have taken. Students need to be present if at all possible. If they do have to be absent, it is their responsibility to read the missed chapters or find it online and listen to the missed chapters. We will also be doing a project after completing the book. More details will follow about the project. Please ask your child to tell you what we read each day (this practices summarizing.) Thanks for your help! .

We will also be reading two novels in class and students will be tested on those as a class. I would still like for students to read each night.
