WASHINGTON D.C. INAUGURATION TRIP

 

This trip is open to any Junior or Senior student that has passed all portions of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam.  The student must also have no previous history of discipline problems.  Each student interested in  traveling is subject to approval by Guntersville High School.

 

We have tentatively scheduled a parent meeting on Tuesday September 2nd at 6:00 in the library at Guntersville High School.  There will be a PowerPoint that will answer many questions you may have and we will have a question and answer time at the end of the meeting.

 

Students can register for the trip by accessing the website listed below and filling in the information also listed on this website.  Students that are sure they will be able to attend should register by next Thursday September 4th in order avoid an increase in the registration fee.

Necessary Materials:                        3 Ring Binder Notebooks

                                                            Loose Leaf Paper

                            Several Pencils (always have a backup pencil) or

                            ink pen (BLUE OR BLACK ONLY!!!!!!)

                                                           Good Attitude and a willingness to learn

 

Missed Assignments or Tests:  It is the student’s responsibility to find out the assignments missed when absent and get them completed.  When students are absent from school for school related functions, they need to request assignments prior to being absent.  Make-up tests and/or assignments may be different from the original test or assignment.  Students will have five days to make up missed assignments or tests.

 

Disciplinary Procedures:  Students will be expected to follow all rules and guidelines as per Guntersville High School Student Code of Conduct.  Mature and appropriate classroom behavior is expected at all times.  Any infraction of classroom or school rules will require disciplinary action.  This action will range from verbal warning, written assignment, parental contact, and/or sent to grade level principal.

 

Grading Procedures:  Grades will be determined by points earned divided by points possible.  Points will be earned from homework, quizzes, comprehensive section and chapter tests, notebook tests, class work, outside projects, nine-week and final exams.  All notes and assignments must be kept organized in a notebook. There will be random notebook tests throughout each nine-week grading period.

 

Restroom Policy:  Leaving the classroom results in missed material, disruption of class and/or disruption of other classes.  Ideally, students need to take advantage of the time between classes, break, and lunch to use the restroom.

 

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES INCLUDING CELL PHONES, PAGERS ETC. WILL BE TAKEN UP AND HELD IN THE OFFICE UNTIL YOUR PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN PICKS IT UP.  REPEAT OFFENSES WILL BE DEALT WITH ACCORDING TO THE STUDENT HANDBOOK.

 

ALL BRUSHES, COMBS, MIRRORS OR ANY TYPE OF MAKEUP WILL BE CONFISCATED AND HELD UNTIL THE END OF CLASS.  IF THE USE OF SUCH PRODUCTS PERSISTS APPROPRIATE ACTION WILL BE TAKEN.

EACH STUDENT MUST BE IN HIS/HER SEAT WITH THE PROPER MATERIALS FOR THE DAY BEFORE THE TARDY BELL BEGINS TO RING.  TARDINESS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND WILL BE DEALT WITH APPROPRIATELY.

 

2.  BE RESPONSIBLE!!

 

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR TAKING CARE OF ALL SCHOOL PROPERTY.  TEXTBOOKS, DESKS, PENCIL SHARPENERS, COMPUTERS, ETC.  ARE TO BE USED WITH EXTREME CARE.  STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR ANY DAMAGES CAUSED TO SCHOOL PROPERTY.

 

3.   BE RESPECTFUL!!!

 

STUDENTS MUST SHOW RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER AND THE TEACHER AT ALL TIMES.  STUDENTS SHOULD NOT GET OUT OF THEIR SEAT OR SPEAK ALOUD WITHOUT THE TEACHERS PERMISSION.
