When you finish a book, you may do a book talk for some extra credit!
Here's what it involves:
- Read the entire book.
- Take the AR test and make at least a 90. (To ensure you
comprehended it!)
- Fill out a "Book Talk Planner" sheet. (I can give you this.)
- Create a poster using HALF a sheet of poster board. The poster
should include (but not limited to): Title, Author's name,
Picture/Drawing of the front cover, Level, Points, Main characters' names,
Setting, Big Problem in the story, and some "key" events, BUT DO NOT GIVE
AWAY THE ENDING!!!
Now you're ready for your book talk! Here's what you need to know:
- Book talks should last 3-5 minutes. Please be PREPARED! USE
A SCRIPT IF YOU NEED IT!
- No more than 3 people in one book talk. (It's gets too long and
confusing with more than this.)
- Book talks may be done with: costumes, props, puppets, etc.
- A good rule of thumb: Don't have "down time" during your talk.
Be lively and energetic! Your audience will want to read the book if
they see you are really enthused! Leave them wanting, NOOOOO...dying
to know what happens next!
