Autobiography Update!!

AR Update

Each student is required to read one AR book each nine weeks.  They must chose a book off of the 8th grade literature list that corresponds with their reading level.  Upon finishing the book, each student must take an AR test.  This counts as a grade in English class.  There are multiple copies of this list in the school library and a copy hanging in my room.  You can click on the following link to access the list from this website. 

***The cutoff date for the 2nd nine weeks is Thursday, December 18th.

Extra Credit

*Students will be able to gain extra credit throughout the nine weeks by getting either tests or planners signed.  Look for these periodically throughout the nine weeks. 

Test Date

*There will be a pronoun test on Tuesday, November 25th.  You may use the workbook pages or your daily lessons as a study guide for this test.

MONDAY:  11/3

Bell-ringer (A.R.I., ACS, AHSGE)

• D.O.L Assignment (Week 11)  #’s 1, 2, and 3

 Spelling Assignment (Unit 11)

• I will assign spelling words and work for the week.

• This will be taken up on Thursday for a grade.

 AR Assignment

• The students who haven't gotten a book will go to the library to check out a book from the list for this nine weeks.  The other students will work on spelling. 

 TUESDAY:  11/4

Bell-ringer (ARI, ACS, AHSGE)

• D.O.L. Assignment (Week 11) #’s 4, 5, and 6

Reading Assignment - (ACS, AHSGE, SAT, ARMT)

• “My First Free Summer” –Students will read this memoir, and we will discuss it.  Students will then answer questions about the story to practice comprehension and cause and effect. 

WEDNESDAY:  11/5

Reading Assignment (AHSGE, ACS, SAT, RBS)

?         Marie Curie Reading Activity

?         The students will be placed into groups.  They will read a passage and work on fluency and reading comprehension.  They will answer questions about setting, theme, main idea, and plot.

• Reflexive and Intensive Pronouns – pg. 445-446

• Complete Ex. 10 and 11 on pg. 446. (Follow directions.)
• Interrogative and Demonstrative Pronouns – pg. 447-448
• Read pg. 447 and complete Ex. 12 and 13 on pg. 448.  (Follow directions)

Friday 11/21

  Reminders    

*If a student has an excused absence, they will have 5 days to make up all missed work.  This includes tests.  If the student has an unexcused absence on a day that we take a test, they will receive a grade of 0.
