Ideas for
Speech & Language Practice

Every day set aside a time for your child to tell you 5 things about their day at school. Tell your child to pay attention to the sounds he or she is working on in speech class. Encourage your child to use complete sentences & express ideas clearly.
Have your child find and practice his or her sounds on street signs, a menu in a restaurant, in the church bulletin, or in a magazine.
Keep a list of
words or a set of pictures in the car for practice while on the road.
Make sure these are things your child can look at and talk about with you
while you drive.

At mealtime, listen for target sounds as your child names the foods being served.
Play any game you
have at home and help your child listen for target sounds as you play.
Practice expressing ideas to each other throughout the game.
Keep in touch with your child's teacher and Mrs. Iwankovitsch, the Speech-Language Pathologist.
If your child receives services as a preschooler or at the other schools (CES, GMS, or GHS), keep in touch with Mrs. Sharon Glenn about your child's program.
