GRADING PROCEDURE
1. Each student’s grade will be a combination of English, spelling, and DOL test grades, notebook quiz grades, writing assignments and projects. All grades will be counted equally and will be averaged for the student’s final grade.
2. Each student is required to keep an English notebook. All assignments that are not turned in will be kept in each child’s notebook.
3. Extra credit is offered in the form of bonus questions on each English and spelling test. Extra credit is also given if the student has his/her parent sign their English and/or spelling test grade.
4. Make-up work is ONLY permitted if the student has an excuse for being absent. The student is allowed only five days to make up any missed work.
CLASSROOM RULES
1. Be in your seat and ready for work when the tardy bell rings.
2. Have all materials ready to use when the bell rings.
3. No disruptions of class. (Gum, candy, makeup, ect.)
4. Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.
5. Be respectful at all times to teacher(s) and other students.
DISCIPLINE PLAN
For minor offenses such as chewing gum, talking, disrupting class, passing notes, copying another student’s work, ect., the following action will be taken:
1. Verbal Warning
2. Writing Assignment
3. Break Detention- Break detention will be held in the lunchroom. Students who receive break detention will report to the lunchroom at break everyday for the number of days assigned. If a student does not appear for the predetermined days, he or she will be referred to the principal’s office.
4. Referral to the office
3. If the behavior is severe, the student will be sent immediately to the principal with a referral.
4. Belligerence, disrespect, or refusal to obey will be considered a major discipline problem and will be referred to the principal.
Homework Procedure
Below is the new HOMEWORK procedure. All assignment are started in class if at all possible. If the student does not finish in class it is considered home work. (Please read the procedures letter below sent home the first week of school.) For each assignment not done or incomplete (they must complete 1/2 or more) the student will be given a pink slip to fill out as to why the assignment was not completed. This is for our documentation as well as for your information. The consequences of receiving pink slips are below.

2nd pink slip -Warning
3rd pink slip- Conference with ALL your teachers
4th pink slip- Teachers calls home with the number of all pink slips for all classes.
5th pink slip- Visit Coach Reeves.
6th pink slip -Parent conference with all reachers.
