CLASS INFORMATION/HOMEWORK
*Please check your child's planner for homework assignments.
Reading~We are working on how to be a fluent reader and focusing on fluency. We are also working on reading comprehension (fiction and non-fiction), retelling, and using our "inner voice" while we read.
For homework, students should be reading at least 30 minutes each night, Monday-Thursday, and having a parent sign their planner. I may have your child read to a certain chapter or page in their book as their homework instead of reading for a specific amount of time. Some reading teachers may do homework a little differently. In such a case, please e-mail your child's reading teacher.
Math~This week, we will be working on changing fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions, as well as looking deeper into decimals. We will be continuing to work on Multiplying Larger numbers by 2 digits and long Division.
This week's facts test is changing decimals to fractions. We will do a pretest on Monday followed with a posttest on Friday. The students are timed for 4 minutes.
I ask that if your child has not mastered their multiplication facts, that they practice each night until proficient.
For Homework, I will be sending home practice sheets most nights or workbook pages. These will include problems from the day's lesson. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail or call me.

Here are also two links to view how I am teaching my students how to multiply larger numbers. I am showing them both the traditional and lattice methods.
Language~We are classifying sentences (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and prepositions). We are also working on pronouns.
