Meet Mrs. Wright

This is my third full year at Cherokee Elementary School, and I am loving every minute of it.  For me, working in the library is a perfect job, because I get to see ALL of the children in all grades.  It's fun to help everyone choose a book that they hopefully will enjoy, and to encourage a love for reading.  The other thing that keeps me busy is my duty as recycling coordinator for our school.  We try to do our part for the environment by recycling plastic, aluminum, paper, batteries, etc..

As the children know from my accent, "I'm not from around here".  I was born in Nottingham, England, where I lived for the first 30 years of my life. My degree is in foreign languages, mainly German.  I was previously employed by a local Guntersville company, Kappler, at their European headquarters in my home town of Nottingham.  That is where I met my husband, Chris Wright of Guntersville, who was also working for Kappler in Germany.  We transferred to Guntersville, and continued working for Kappler USA, until they moved us back to Germany and England for 5 years.  We finally moved back to Guntersville in 2004!  We have two daughters, Anna (12) and Sarah(5), a dog named Katie and a cat called Chloe.  We try to get back to England to see my family at least once a year and strongly encourage visitors from England to come and see us in Guntersville!

In my spare time, I love to walk, hike, camp, cycle, and generally be outside.  I love sport, but only manage to play volleyball and tennis occasionally.

My goal for this school year, is to read at least two children's books from our library each week, so that when the children ask me if I have personally read something, I will hopefully be able to answer yes, more times than no!
