Reading Incentive
Program
"Let's read
100,000,000 words!"
We have set a
school-wide goal of one hundred million words to be read from March 1 - May 23.
If we can accomplish this goal, our school will take a trip to the movies to see
"Prince Caspian" (the sequel to "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe") on May
27th. That means we have to read around two million words each school day-
let's get busy reading!

Library Volunteers
We have many wonderful parent
volunteers in the library this year. Our third grade parent is Carol Kovac
and our fourth grade parents are Jennifer
Davis and Stacy McLaughlin. Our fifth grade parents are Reneice
Wherry and Ramsey Gann. We truly
appreciate all of the work and time these parents donate to us each week.
They are a very important part of our library program.

"Read-O-Rama"
Reading
goals have now been set for the fourth nine weeks. Students who reach their
goal will get to come to the library for a "Read-O-Rama" reading party.
Our fourth party will be held on May 23rd. We will eat
popcorn, watch a video, and have a prize drawing. Work hard to reach your
goal so you won't miss out!
A.R. PRIZES
Students
who reach their goals for the second nine weeks get to participate in the Reading
Party
in the library!! They will also have their picture and name put on the
bulletin board with the other Star Readers in the lunchroom.
Students
who earn 100 points during the school year will be treated to a cookout and
snowcones in May.
Students who earn 175 points
during the school year get to paint a ceiling tile. Students who have
painted a ceiling tile in previous years will get to paint a wall tile that will
be hung in the library.
Students
who earn 200 points during the school will be treated to a very special party in
the library in May.

Parents,
you can help your child reach his/her AR reading goal by making sure they read
their AR book at home and bring it to school every day. You can also read with them.
Research proves that reading aloud to your child is one sure way to improve
his/her reading!!!
