Personal and Business Finance
Personal Finance Course Description:
Personal Finance may be taught as a one-credit
or half-credit course. The course introduces students to the
management of personal and family resources to achieve personal goals
and financial literacy. Content provides opportunities for students to
explore consumer behavior, laws and legislation, consumer protection,
consumer rights and responsibilities, consumer decision making,
advertising and promotional techniques, individual and family money
management, banking services, use of credit, income tax, technology, and
careers in providing financial services to individuals and families.
Business Finance Course Description:
Business Finance is a half-credit or
one-credit course designed to provide students with an overview of the
principles of business finance. The curriculum focuses on major areas of
study, including economics, marketing, accounting procedures, and the
global financial market. An integral component of the curriculum is the
application of decision-making skills that enables students to become
more responsible consumers, producers, or business entrepreneurs.
Class Fee: $25.00. Please make checks payable to
Guntersville High School.
Textbook: Glencoe: Business and Personal Finance
Grade Determination: All grades earned during
the 9-week grading period will be added and averaged by the total points
possible. Progress reports will be sent home after the 4th week of each
grading period.
Absences: There will be a class assignment every
day. If a student is absent an assignment will be missed. If the student
has an excused absence, the work must be made up. The student will have
five school days from the day he/she returned to school to make up this
missed assignment. It is the student' responsibility to ask for make-up
work. If the work has not been made up in 5 school days, a zero will be
given for the missed assignment.
