Cherokee Physical Education

BREAKING NEWS:   CHEROKEE STUDENTS HAVE BEGUN THE FITNESS FORWARD PROGRAM WHICH HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED WITH THE CAROL M. WHITE PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRANT.  THIS PROGRAM IS TARGETING CHILDHOOD OBESITY AND HELPS EACH STUDENT TO REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD NUTRITION, AND  DAILY EXERCISE. EACH STUDENT IS TRYING TO GET 5 POINTS PER DAY BY GETTING 8 TO 11 HOURS OF SLEEP PER NIGHT, DRINKING NO SUGAR DRINKS, ONLY WATCHING 1 HOUR OF TV OR VIDEO GAMES PER DAY, EATING 5 TO 9 FRUITS AND VEGETABLES PER DAY, AND GETTING A MINIMUM OF 1 HOUR OF EXERCISE A DAY.  THESE HEALTHY HABITS SHOULD BEGIN EARLY IN LIFE AND BECOME A WAY OF LIFE.  OUR GOAL IS FOR EACH STUDENT AND FAMILY TO BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM BY DEVELOPING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.

REMEMBER THE IMPORTANCE OF WEARING TENNIS SHOES EVERY DAY TO BE PREPARED FOR CLASS ACTIVITY!!!!!!!!!!

CHEROKEE STUDENTS RAISED OVER $5900 FOR THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION!!!!  MACY GLASSCO IS FEATURED IN THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY JUMP ROPE FOR HEART NEWSLETTER FOR HER DECISION TO FORFEIT HER GIFTS TO GIVE MORE TO THOSE WITH HEART DISEASE.  TOP MONEY EARNERS WERE:  CHELSEE ALLEN $415, JACK PATTON AND ROSS CHANDLER $200.

FITNESS TESTING WILL BEGIN THIS MONTH----PRACTICE YOUR TEST ITEMS AT HOME:  SHUTTLE RUN, CURL-UPS, PULL-UPS, SIT AND REACH, AND MILE RUN.  REMEMBER TO USE THE CORRECT TECHNIQUE FOR EACH TEST ITEM.

Students in the 50 Mile Club will be completing their goal of 50 miles soon.  We have the following  4th grade students who have completed their goal:  Jeffrey Brickey, Jake Hodge, Megan Schwieterman, Joseph Johnson, and Chloe Arnold.  The following 5th graders have completed their goal:  Parker Jeffreys, Edmund Kellar, Robbie Maples,  and Nihar Patel.                                                                               

                                                                                                                       

                                                                                                       

 

                                                                              100 Pullup Club

Cherokee now has 51 5th graders with 100 or more pullups!!!!!

Parker Jeffreys and Sammy Johnson are the" head of the class" for the boys:  they have 1,000 pullups.  Tykeshia Harris  is the "head of the class" for girls:  shehas 500 pullups.

3rd and 4th grade students have started working on their upper body strength in the pullup club.  The following 4th graders have 100 pullups:  D.J. Saye, Cabe Lufts, Jake Hodge, Ezekiel Chilel,  Brantlie Campbell, Chrishon Hampton, Ethan Hancock, Michael Whisenant, Lowden Williams.  Zach Smith has 200 pullups.

3rd graders with 100 pullups are:  Anna Kist and Josh Bugg.
